Tigard company has donated thousands of bicycles for kids for 20 years

Over the years, Pioneer Waterproofing employees and their families have built and donated thousands of bicycles to KGW's Great Toy Drive.

TIGARD, Ore. — For roughly 20 years, a Tigard company has donated bicycles to the KGW Great Toy Drive that serves local families.

Pioneer Waterproofing is a KGW partner and over the time the company has been involved with the toy drive, it's donated thousands of bicycles.

Every year, employees who work for Pioneer Waterproofing and their families come together to build the bicycles to donate and then deliver them to KGW.

“I think we had about 400 bikes our first year. Right now we produce about between 275 and 300 bikes every single year,” said Libby Crawford, with Pioneer Waterproofing. “Our employees have kids and we see the joy in their eyes when they get their first bike and that never goes away."

Brad Cram worked for the company for 40 years and is now retired. Cram’s father, Dean Cram, was one of the original Pioneer Waterproofing employees and inspired Brad Cram and his brother to get on board. Now Brad’s sons, Josh and Zach, work at the company as well.

“The toy drive is huge for the community obviously, and it's cool that we can give back, contribute so much to it,” Josh Cram said.

“Having the parents wake up and seeing the smile on their kid's face makes me pretty happy and glad I could do something like that,” said Zach Cram.

“Driving down the road you don't know, maybe I built that bike for that kid,” said Brad. "That's pretty cool.”
