PORTLAND, Ore. — Blair Best is an Emmy award-winning dayside reporter for KGW News covering Portland’s homeless crisis.
She comes to Oregon from Portland, Maine where she spent two years reporting and anchoring at WGME. There she reported on the front lines of the pandemic with a focus on homelessness, the housing crisis and education.
Best has a track-record for getting results. In direct response to some of her reporting, new state legislation has been introduced, multiple families on the verge of living on the streets found affordable housing including two teenagers living in their car, and more than 200 people applied to donate their liver to a one-year-old boy who was hospitalized since birth.
Prior to her TV career, she worked on the assignment desk and reported for several newspapers and magazines.
She volunteers at a Southeast Portland church helping women and other marginalized community members who are experiencing homelessness and escaping violence.
Originally from a small fishing town on the coast of Maine, Best graduated with honors from New York University where she double majored in Acting and Journalism.
She enjoys hiking, visiting the coast as much as possible and exploring all the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
