PORTLAND, Oregon — Punk rock band Green Day will perform at Southwest Portland's Providence Park in September 2024, the group announced on Thursday.
Band members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool will kick off "The Saviors Tour" in Europe, then they will travel to the U.S. and Canada in late July. The North American leg of the tour will feature some special guests: The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and The Linda Lindas.
The tour celebrates 30 years since the release of their iconic album "Dookie," and 20 years since "American Idiot" was released.
Green day also released a video for their new song, "Look Ma, No Brains!" on Thursday.
People can buy general admission tickets starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10. The concert starts at 6 p.m. on September 25, 2024.
Green Day will be the second group to perform at Providence Park in nearly 20 years. In October, the Portland Timbers announced the return of stadium concerts, with rock band Foo Fighters to headline the first show in August 2024.
The stadium can seat about 30,000 people. For comparison, Moda Center has a maximum capacity of 20,000 people.
Legendary singer Elvis Presley held the stadium's first ever concert in 1957, according to the Timbers. Other notable bands and musicians who have performed at Providence Park include David Bowie in 1987, Johnny Cash in 1992 and Def Leppard in 2005.
